Affiliate Disclosure
Effective date: 2026-08-14 Last updated: 2026-09-17
Telltale Skin participates in one affiliate program. This page explains what that means, how affiliate links work here, and how we disclose them, in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. § 255) and equivalent disclosure standards in other jurisdictions.
For questions, contact hello@telltaleskin.com.
1. What "affiliate" means here
An affiliate link is a link to a third-party product that, if you click it and then make a purchase, may pay us a small commission. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link. The commission comes out of the merchant's side of the transaction, not yours.
We use affiliate links to help cover the cost of running the Site (hosting, tools, research time). They do not influence which products appear on a page or what is written about them.
2. Programs we participate in
- Amazon Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Links to Amazon on this Site carry our Associates tracking ID.
That is the complete list. We are not members of any other affiliate network, and no other tracking link appears on the Site. If that changes, this list and the "Last updated" date above change with it.
3. How products get onto a page
Nothing on this Site is tested by hand. We do not use products on skin and then report the result. What we do is read: the manufacturer's published ingredient list, the product's regulatory label where one exists (for example the Drug Facts panel of an over-the-counter product, as filed with the FDA), and the published dermatology sources cited on each page.
So a product appears on a page because the page is already reading its formula or its label, and the card that carries the affiliate link repeats that: every card states that the product has not been used by the author. We do not rate products with scores, and we do not publish "best of" lists.
A product's affiliate commission does not affect whether it appears, what is said about it, or where it sits. We do not accept payment from merchants, and we do not accept free samples.
4. How affiliate links appear in our content
- On this page, in plain language.
- On every article that contains one, in a notice placed above the first affiliate link, inside the product card that carries it.
- Never inside advice to see a clinician. A sentence telling you to see a dermatologist does not carry a commercial link anywhere on this Site, and the page about when to see one carries no affiliate links at all.
We do not disguise affiliate links as independent editorial references, and we do not place them in the body text of an article.
5. What we don't do
- We do not accept payment for placing a product on a page.
- We do not write about products we have not read in good faith, from the manufacturer's own published information.
- We do not publish negative statements about a competitor of an affiliate partner in exchange for payment.
- We do not use deceptive headlines to drive affiliate clicks.
If you believe an article violates these standards, email hello@telltaleskin.com and we will investigate and, where warranted, correct or retract.
6. Your privacy and affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link, you leave our Site and the destination merchant takes over. The merchant may set cookies and use its own analytics to attribute the click. We do not receive your name, email address, or specific purchase details, only aggregated, non-identifying data about clicks and conversions through the program's dashboard.
For more on how data is handled on this Site, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Updates
When we add or remove an affiliate program, we update the list above and the "Last updated" date.
